BLIND, STUPID AND DESPERATE

94/95 review:
September

Watford 1 Middlesborough 1 (Johnson)
Barnsley 0 Watford 0
Oldham Athletic 0 Watford 2 (Holdsworth, Porter)
Watford 2 Luton Town 4 (Moralee, Mooney)
Watford 3 Spurs 6 (Ramage, Mooney, og)
Watford 2 Reading 2 (Johnson, Moralee)

The season's momentum was upset by Miller's absurd red card for bringing down Bryan Robson, who was heading for the corner flag at the time, but we fought for a point against the champions-to-be. There was more tedium at Barnsley but an excellent result in the midweek fixture at Oldham gave renewed optimism. A decimated squad took on Luton and, after Moralee had given us the lead, mistakes cost us dear - to be honest, we were outplayed for long periods. Spurs in the Coca-Cola Cup brought further controversy as Walker didn't walk for a professional foul on Moralee and Porter missed the penalty, but that shouldn't obscure the fact that this was a stupendous game of free-flowing, attacking football. Frustration again as we threw away a two goal lead against a Reading side who aren't as good as their position suggests.
