BLIND, STUPID AND DESPERATE

94/95 review:
November

Burnley 1 Watford 1 (Nogan)
Watford 1 West Bromwich Albion 0 (Mooney)
Watford 1 Southend United 0 (Nogan)
Sunderland 1 Watford 3 (Hessenthaler, Mooney, Nogan)
Watford 0 Stoke City 0

Our finest month, in which we finally made a move for a playoff place. A midweek draw at Burnley was a reasonble result, but the West Brom win, courtesy of a thumping Mooney volley, pushed us up the table. Southend was tense and scrappy, but Nogan's diving header deep into injury time won the points in spectacular style. We took advantage of Sunderland's dismal home form to maintain our run, which set up the game against Stoke as our chance to move into a playoff place. It didn't happen - we played well enough but the ball wouldn't go in, Mooney's header flashing against the post late on. Crucially, we'd made our break for the playoffs and we spent the rest of the season looking upwards rather than downwards.
