Saint of the Day: Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross was born, as Edith Stein, into a Jewish family but became interested in Christianity in her teens and joined a convent in her forties. Being a nun did not protect her from Nazi persecution. She was smuggled out of Germany in 1938 but captured in Holland and sent to Auschwitz where she died in 1942.

Further information

Nicholas Ralph's Numbers - Game 2: A delicious use of the number two shows that 1 tun = 2 pipes = 4 hogsheads (roughly the appropriate amount of beer to be consumed pre- and post-match in aggregate) and so on up to 4096 chopins (wow - and he wrote music, too) = 8192 gills. This is how computers started.
Lucky animal: Pipistrelle bats.
Unlucky food: All flavours of jelly. Who wants food that wobbles anyway?
The BSaD Interview: Throughout the 2004-05 season, BSaD is interviewing eminent ex-Hornets for the matchday programme. The interviewee in Monday night's programme is Steve Palmer.
