BLIND, STUPID AND DESPERATE

01/02: Preview: Burnley
BSaD opinion
by Matt Rowson

How did they do?
Far better than they expected to. An extremely solid defence coupled with the determination of a handful of clubs (mentioning no names) to throw a play-off place away almost led to the Clarets claiming a spot by default.

How will they do?
The defence has been strengthened further with the signing of the capable Mark McGregor from Wrexham, however it's difficult to see where the goals are going to come from. Will do well to match last season's achievement.

Do we like them?
No. For starters you have to worry about a town that thinks the next junction along the M65 is a long way. But the end of last season.... Okay, so a pitch invasion is a bit of an end-of-season ritual at some clubs, but the lack of respect shown to GT won't be forgotten in a hurry.

(Editor's note: That said, the Burnley fans who contacted BSaD after that day were apologetic, sympathetic and understanding, without exception. To them, thanks.)

If they were a tv or radio show, what would they be?
"The League of Gentlemen" is a lazy analogy, but painfully accurate.
