BLIND, STUPID AND DESPERATE

00/01: Season preview:
Barnsley: opposition opinion
by Darren Penty of Copacabarnsley

How will Barnsley do next season?
Promotion in second place, of course, although now Hignett's gone we need another player who can score some goals. However, if we can tighten up our defence (the whole team, not just the back four), I think we'll still do pretty well.

What do you/Barnsley think of Watford?
Well-organised under Graham Taylor but, like us, not enough quality throughout the side to really threaten the title challengers.

I predict this season that the Hornets would do well to win promotion. Mid-table would be a fair bet and I'll go for eighth place. I don't mean to be disrespectful but when you come down from the Premiership you'll find out again that everyone beats everyone in this league. Avoid another relegation, that's the priority.

What is the most beautiful thing about Barnsley Football Club?
The people, who are friendly, and our loveable rebel mascot Toby Tyke!

What is the ugliest thing about Barnsley Football Club?
West Stand toilets, circa 1901 - top cesspit of the last century and they smell just as bad.

Which pundit do Barnsley hate the most and please think of something creative to do to him/her?
Mark Lawrenson, a top cure for insomniacs who never has anything positive to say about us. And Mark McGhee, a sad Scottish bastard with a shite former football team. Throw McGhee in with the sharks!

Can you recommend a friendly pub near Oakwell?
The Mount, Pontefract Road.

Where's the best place to park near Oakwell ?
Parking's difficult but there's the odd car park available near the ground for a couple of quid. The old slaughterhouse yard's not bad.

What's the nearest railway station to Oakwell and how far is it ?
Barnsley train station is about five minutes walk to the ground.
